On Nov. 6, Petr Fiala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, will pay an official visit to Serbia and will meet with his Serbian counterpart, Milos Vucevic, and Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vucic.
A plenary meeting between the government delegations of Serbia and Czechia is also on the agenda, as well as an economic forum to discuss current transportation projects, options for investing in Serbia, as well as possible collaboration in preparing the specialized 2027 Expo, to be held in Belgrade.
It is expected that Fiala will also discuss geopolitics with Serbia’s top leadership, along with the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and economic cooperation.
In the first eight months of this year, Serbia and Czechia’s trade was worth EUR1.41 billion, with Serbian exports accounting for EUR771.6 million – marking a 10.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year – while imports from the Czech Republic valued EUR643.1 million, demonstrating a 4.8-percent increase.
So far in 2024, Czechia has ranked eight among Serbia’s export partners and 10th in terms of imports. There are also 260 business entities in Serbia with a registered majority owner from the Czech Republic.
On the list of countries with the highest total investments in Serbia, Czechia holds 18th place.
