The opposition Civil Movement Bravo assessed on Nov. 14 that it was disgraceful that the city authorities in Novi Sad were installing New Year’s decorations while the citizens mourn the 14 people who were killed at the Railway Station on Nov. 1, and added that they expected Mayor Milan Djuric to resign.
“Instead of creating a festive atmosphere that is painful and inappropriate, let the mayor, instead of decorating the city, submit the resignation that everyone has been demanding for days now. Decorations and celebration in a moment when sadness and pain dominate our city represents an act of callousness and ignoring of the tragedy,” the Bravo movement declared in the statement. They added that “the end of this darkest and saddest year, which we shall remember as the most difficult one since the end of World War II, should be met in silence and dignity.”
The united opposition in Novi Sad requested on Nov. 14 that the mayor resigns by Nov. 15 at 11:52 a.m. “Tomorrow (Nov. 15) will be 14 days since 14 people lost their lives, during which the police and the prosecution have not made any arrests or found any suspects. The Novi Sad opposition will officially move on the initiative for his dismissal before the City Assembly on Monday (Nov. 18),” they announced.
