A motion of no confidence in Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic signed by 71 MPs was brought before the Serbian parliament on Nov. 15.
The reasons listed for removing the prime minister are omissions in the execution of his authority and taking measures and failing in his duty to establish the accountability of persons in authority, which had led to the breakdown of the security system of Serbia and the deaths of 14 people in the collapse of a concrete overhang over the entrance to the main railway station in Novi Sad.
The motion notes that an opening ceremony for the Novi Sad railway station was held on July 5, and that the report for the works was not filed until Oct. 7, that the responsible ministry allowed the building to be opened without a certificate of occupancy, that there had been no professional inspection, and that Vucevic was mayor of Novi Sad when the project for the reconstruction and construction of the Novi Sad-Subotica railway was being executed, including the reconstruction of the station building.
"Prime Minister Milos Vucevic has not taken any action within his authority since the tragic event to calm the public and prevent such tragic events from happening again," the motion reads.
