Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Dec. 3 said he was convinced that Serbia was the biggest friend of Africa out of all European countries and that cooperation between Serbia and African countries was growing in importance as it was not based on attempts of dominance or undermining anyone, but was rather of “friendly and brotherly nature.”
Speaking at the opening of a plenary session focusing on impacts of terrorism and illegal migrations on economic security as part of a conference titled “Serbia-Africa 2024: Dignity,” held in Belgrade, Vucic said he was proud that representatives of 40 African nations were present in Serbia’s capital.
“Demographically, Africa is the fastest growing continent, while economically, it is a great opportunity for Serbia. As you know, we have been cherishing traditional friendship with African nations, there is no racism here,” Vucic said.
He also pointed to cooperation between Serbia and African countries in five domains – security, economy, politics, education, and science.
Vucic added that Serbia was a small country, but that today it was producing more ammunition and certain type missiles than most developed countries in Europe.
He also underlined shared struggle for freedom, independence and sovereignty.
