The Serbian Ministry of Finance will have to do an environmental impact study for the project of building a national football stadium and accompanying facilities in Belgrade, the Forbes Magazine in Serbia reported on Dec. 11.

The Serbian Ministry of Environmental Protection issued the order for the study after determining, based on the documentation submitted and activities planned by the builder, that the project would have a large-scale impact on the environment. According to Forbes, the developer will have to wait for the study to be completed, which generally takes months, before a construction permit can be issued for the building of the stadium structure.

The article explains that the Unified Procedure Rules state that an environmental impact study and sign-off on that study must be submitted before a construction permit can be issued. At the same time, videos regularly posted on YouTube by users following the construction show that work is well underway on pouring out the pillars that will support the stadium seating, Forbes reported.
