The students who are holding blockades at their faculties have invited citizens to join them at a protest rally in front of the Constitutional Court in Belgrade on Jan. 12.

"We, the students holding blockades, invite you to join a protest outside the Constitutional Court at 4 p.m. on Jan. 12 and support us. Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed violations of the Constitution and that is why we have decided to symbolically gather outside the Constitutional Court building and express our dissatisfaction," according to a statement from the students.

They added that violating the Constitution jeopardizes the rights of all citizens and that they wanted to send a loud message to the people that the Constitution would (not) provide them protection.

"Although we can pick any day to protest, we chose exactly Sunday so that you, workers, could also join us. The fact that Constitutional Court employees are not in the building on that day does not diminish the importance of our action - the Constitution applies every day and that is why it's important to recall at all times our rights, which it guarantees," says the statement.

The students have also invited unions to join the protest and distanced themselves from the activities of all political parties and organizations.
