The president of the Missing Persons Commission of Kosovo, Andin Hoti, announced that the meeting in Brussels of the joint Missing Persons Commission of Belgrade and Pristina, scheduled for Jan. 15, was not held due to a rejection of the Serbian side.

In his words, Serbia’s chief negotiator Petar Petkovic was present in Brussels, but it was “unclear what he was doing there, since the meeting had been scheduled only for the issue of missing persons in the format of deputy chiefs of commissions.”

According to Hoti, Petkovic’s presence in Brussels is the most obvious proof that he had orchestrated and secured the failure of the planned meeting, “by turning a vital technical process into a disgraceful tool of politicization and obstruction.” “This, for who knows which time, demonstrates Serbia’s lack of readiness to cooperate in this important matter. This proves once more the extreme politicization of Serbia regarding the issue of missing persons,” Hoti wrote in a post on Facebook.

Meanwhile, the Kosovo delegation had meetings with European Union representatives, presented Kosovo’s requests according to the envisaged agenda and received information from (the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Miroslav) Lajcak, that the EU member countries would be informed about the constructiveness of the Kosovo side and its requests, Hoti added.
