All the stories about blockades and a general strike must eventually end with the calling of elections, Serbian Progressive Party senior official and parliament speaker Ana Brnabic said on Jan. 23.

"However you look at it and whatever you do - be they blockades, a general strike, blockades of institutions... Elections must come at the end of every ballad and at the end of every story," Brnabic told Happy TV.

Brnabic said she did not know how elections could happen if the opposition continued to refuse to work on the improvement of electoral conditions.

Previously, representatives of the majority of opposition parties refused to take part in a new election campaign under the current conditions, demanding that the issues of voter roll, oversight of polling stations and representation in the media be resolved first.
