Students of faculties in Belgrade set off on a protest march to Novi Sad on Jan. 30 at about 10:30 a.m., with the aim of supporting their colleagues in Novi Sad, who have announced a blockade of all bridges in the city for Feb. 1, which marks three months since the tragedy at the Railway Station there.

The students began gathering near the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, from where they proceeded to the Crime Police University and stopped there for 15 minutes to pay respect to the people who were killed in the collapse of a concrete canopy at the reconstructed Railway Station in Novi Sad.

Citizens also gathered in front of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, to see the students off. The media have reported that the students’ column, which has police escort, would also be secured by farmers with tractors and bikers.

The students’ plan is to have several breaks during the march and to sleep over in Indjija. The students in blockade have invited citizens to join them, if they were able to organize their own resources. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has stated that the police would “fully secure” the route of the students’ march from Belgrade to Novi Sad.
