Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic’s resignation a week ago has yet to reach parliament and it remains unknown when it will be placed on its agenda, BETA unofficially learned on Feb.4.
BETA asked parliament’s secretary about this but received no official response.
According to the Constitution the prime minister is supposed to send their resignation to parliament i.e. its speaker. Parliament then notes the prime minister’s resignation after which the Cabinet’s term ceases on the same day.
This means that the deadline for electing a new Cabinet or holding elections has not yet been set.
The BETA news agency was told that Novi Sad Mayor Milan Djuric’s resignation had reached the Novi Sad assembly.
Vucevic and Djuric resigned on Jan. 28 right after two groups of students were physically assaulted in the evening by activists of the Serbian Progressive Party. A female student sustained serious injuries.
