The Serbian public has the right to know who ordered the country’s scandalous vote against Russia at the U.N. General Assembly, the parliamentary caucus We – The Strength of the People – Dr. Branimir Nestorovic announced on Feb. 26.

“If the instructions on how to vote came from Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, then why is Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic apologizing on his behalf? If the president of Serbia gave the instructions, then why do we need a [foreign] minister at all?” the caucus asked in its press release.

The parliamentary group went on to say that Vucic “magnanimously assumed blame” for the vote but did not name an actual “culprit” for a move which seriously undermined Serbian-Russian relations – and constitutes the unacceptable privatization of foreign policy.

On Feb. 24, the U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution which reiterates support to Ukraine and its territorial integrity. Serbia voted in favor of the document, while the U.S. and Russia were opposed.
