Brnabic, Vucic, Vucevic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Serbian Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic announced on March 19 that, with the acceptance of the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, the mandate of the government was officially terminated and that the legal period for appointing a new one would start on March 20.
“The state’s president, Aleksandar Vucic, is to initiate the procedure for appointing the new government, and the deadline for that is midnight on April 18. Within that period, Vucic is to designate a prime minister, who is then to nominate the ministers and present the government’s program before the Assembly,” Brnabic stated at a news conference in the hall of the parliament after the session.
She further explained that, if the new government is not appointed in that period, Vucic was to dissolve the parliament and schedule early parliamentary elections, which would be held in early June. “I wish to once more extend gratitude to Vucevic and the ministers for their courageous, responsible and dedicated work in the interest of Serbia and all its citizens, for serving their country,” Brnabic stated.
