The Movement for the People and the State, which had been announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic since 2022, was officially registered as an association with the Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR) on March 28.

According to APR’s website, the Movement for the People and the State was registered on March 28 this year, at an address in Belgrade municipality of Zvezdara, and under the name of Tijana Nikolic.

The Association’s goals, according to its Statute, include “modern development and prosperity of the state, that is, the Republic of Serbia, raising awareness about the importance of the state and popular sovereignty, advocating for prosperity, progress, and a modern state organization,” as well as “promoting and affirming the potential for contributing to boosting awareness of importance of national interests.”

The Statute also says that the Association will participate in realization of projects within its field of work, organize volunteering activities, and collaborate with universities, schools, professional organizations, and other institutions both in the country and overseas to fulfill its goals, and it will also inform the public and citizens of Serbia about current issues relevant to its mission.

According to the Statute, eligible to join the Movement for the People and the State is any person above 14 years of age who wishes to endorse the association’s goals.

First time Vucic announced setting up a movement was back in 2022, but it has been delayed on several occasions. Since the beginning of 2025, Vucic has been touring cities and towns across Serbia, promoting the movement. It, according to Vucic, started receiving applications in March, while the Movement for the People and the State will be officially inaugurated on June 28, Saint Vitus Day, also marked as the memorial day of the Battle of Kosovo fought against the Ottoman Empire in 1389.
