On April 4, the deputy prime minister of Serbia’s caretaker government, Aleksandar Vulin, claimed that the European Union and the West will do “everything” to ensure he is not part of the country’s next cabinet.

Speaking for Pink TV, Vulin expressed his respect for what he claimed was Russia’s and China’s policy of not meddling in the selection of Serbia’s new government, which, he says, “shows how much [the country’s] eastern partners respect Serbia.”

“Russia and China will not push for someone they like better, although they would much rather see me than someone from the pro-NATO opposition in the next cabinet,” Vulin stated.

Vulin’s past top governmental positions include serving as minister of defense, minister of internal affairs, chief of the Security and Information Agency as well as the head of the government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
