"We Will Not Give Up Serbia" rally in Belgrade on April 12 2025 (BETAPHOTO/SERBIAN PRESIDENCY/DIMITRIJE GOLL)
The BIRODI Bureau of Social Research on April 13 requested that the Anti-Corruption Agency and the State Audit Institution identify the organizers of the We Will Not Give Serbia Up rally and determine whether the law on using public property and state spending had been violated.
BIRODI also wants the relevant authorities to establish whether any public official broke the Law on preventing corruption by urging membership in a newly founded civic association, i.e. political movement, being publicly called the Movement for the People and State.
"Through these actions in the media and speeches at the assembly, certain public officials, especially Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Serbian Speaker Ana Brnabic, have acted against Article 40 of the Law on preventing corruption," BIRODI said.
BIRODI went on to say that all public officials were obligated to discharge their public duties for the benefit of all citizens and the public good and not use public appearances or public resources to promote and establish civic associations or movements, or political parties, thus advancing their own special and personal interests, which the organization explained, was a form of corrupt behavior.
