Marko Djuric Moscow(BETAPHOTO/MSP)
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said on April 23 that he had "great and positive expectations of the government" and that Prime Minister Djuro Macut had "already taken the first steps toward defusing tensions in society."
In an appearance on Prva TV, Djuric expressed concern over "the continued illegal and self-destructive blockades" and again criticized the blockade of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation, declaring that "there is and cannot be any justification" for it.
"I think we have shown tolerance in the last five unprecedented months both of unscheduled assemblies and various forms of pressure. We have shown great restraint as a state in that reaction," the foreign minister said. On the topic of the work of the government, Djuric said it was important to work on "defusing tensions and overcoming divisions and giving additional impetus to institutions to keep up the phenomenal job they are doing with things like the growth of the Serbian economy."
About criticisms of the announced attendance of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9, Djuric said Serbia had a freedom-loving tradition and that "remembrance of historic events should not be taken as provocation or a negative message."
