Srdjan Milivojevic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)
Srdjan Milivojevic, the leader of the oppositional Democratic Party, said on June 16 that the demand for President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic’s resignation penned by 25 members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) is more than justified.
In fact, Vucic’s resignation is “necessary” and the only way to save the Serbian state and society, Milivojevic told the Danas daily.
“Amidst such a vast and deep social and political crisis, no one has the right to remain silent. Today, no one has the right to just mind their own business. Today, by opposing Aleksandar Vucic and his intention to annihilate Serbia, every profession is defending its honor and reputation. Each of us has a choice: Serbia or the mafia,” Milivojevic stated.
According to the Democrat leader, the majority of Serbia’s public does not support the current regime, which is why university students, professors, farmers, lawyers, doctors and the academic community have taken to the streets together.
