Since Serbia views nuclear energy as one of the key solutions for a safe, stable and low-carbon powered future, it expects to soon finalize an agreement with South Korea’s Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) regarding the exchange of knowledge and experience in the area of nuclear energy and hydrogen, Rados Popadic of the Serbian Mining and Energy Ministry said on June 20.

“Hydrogen is the energy source of the future and its use is envisaged by our strategic documents, so it is important to exchange knowledge in applying this technology,” explained Popadic in the wake of his work visit to the largest complex of nuclear power plants in the world, located in city of Ulsan and owned by KHNP.

As part of his visit, Popadic, who is the minister’s acting assistant in charge of the Electricity Department, toured the facilities, familiarized himself with nuclear energy technological and safety standards and discussed future collaboration.

According to him, Korean companies have verifiable experience in developing nuclear facilities beyond the borders of their country, as exemplified by the nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates.
