Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
In a June 23 comment on the situation in the Middle East, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said there was no doubt the United States had violated international law in its attack on Iran.
"We want to maintain the closest possible relations with the United States, a strategic partnership, too. We are indeed a small country, but there is no doubt about whether they violated international law or not," Vucic said during a press conference, adding that for Serbia, Israel and Iran are friendly nations, and that he wished peace to prevail in the Middle East and the Near East.
"I do not understand why they did not use diplomacy to resolve it," Vucic said.
Vucic pointed out that Serbia shared a fate similar to that of the Jewish people, that Jews have always been respected in Serbia, and that there had been no anti-Muslim or anti-Islamic messages in Serbia, nor would there be.
Vucic said that a small country like Serbia had nothing else to rely on but international law and the United Nations Charter.
The consequence of violating that law is that there is no law, no justice, and "no rules in today’s world," Vucic said, adding that now "everyone feels entitled to attack anyone."
