Wildfire Stara Planina (Interior Ministry)

As of July 9, the wildfires that have ravaged south Serbia’s Toplica District are under control, with most of them extinguished, the RTS public service has reported.

According to the public broadcaster, over 100 locations were on fire. In Zitoradja, Blace, Kursumlija and Prokuplje, the destruction of several hundreds of housing and farming structures prompted the municipalities to declare a state of emergency.

The flames also destroyed thousands of hectares of agricultural land and a wood processing plant near Kursumlija.
