Green activists were prevented on Aug. 7 from attending a public debate on a draft strategy on mineral resources which is being held in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Several dozens of citizens gathered in front of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce early on Aug. 7, including representatives of the Ecological Uprising and the We Won't Give Up Jadar organization, to attend the public debate organized by the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

Police and security stopped them from entering the Chamber, explaining that they were not on the list for attending the debate. When Ecological Uprising leader Aleksandar "Cuta" Jovanovic tried to force his way through security stopped him while citizens reacted by shouting that they would not allow foreign companies to destroy Serbia and its natural resources in association with the authorities.
