In the morning on Aug. 12, protesting students of the State University in Novi Pazar and local citizens blocked the entrances to the judicial building in the city, demanding the release of two young men who had been arrested for allegedly attacking police on July 29.

They gathered outside the building around 7 am, in an attempt to prevent the employees from going to their workplace, while police officers were also stationed around the building.

At the time when the police made it possible for employees to enter the building through a backdoor, a conflict broke out between police officers and the gathered people, with several students sustaining minor injuries.

According to unofficial information, the relevant bodies are now considering the case of two young men, arrested on suspicion of attacking police officers during incidents outside the State University in Novi Pazar on July 29.

They were taken in together with another eight men, who have been meanwhile released from detention, pending trial.

The incidents outside the State University in Novi Pazar were triggered by private, masked security, who, accompanied by some of the University faculty and management, forced their way into the building and removed the students who had been staying there for some time.
