Several thousand anti-government protesters and police clashed during multiple nights of protests in Belgrade and other Serbian cities over the weekend.

After days of clashes, with dozens injured and arrested, followers of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Aug. 15 again faced off with protesters in the capital. Tear gas and stun grenades were deployed against citizens who oppose the government.

The police have arrested dozens of protesters over the last few days. Some of the arrests were executed while the offices of the Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad were being vandalized. Opposition MPs and activists against corruption accused the followers of the parties in power of orchestrating the violence, publishing images of severely injured protesters. Video recordings posted online show police officers using batons to strike unarmed protesters.

The police has dismissed these reports, claiming that protesters were attacking police officers and that 120 officers had been injured over the last few days.
