Aris Movsesijan, vice-president of the opposition Free Citizens Movement, said on Sept. 23 that his party was pro-European and believed that Serbia was already legging behind in its EU integration.

“We do not live on an island, we live in Europe. It is why our position is clear: Serbia’s citizens need a policy that will solve problems, not run away from them,” Movsesijan told TV Blic. He stressed that the crucial issue for his party in the upcoming elections would be the vision of Serbia after the vote.

“Names are only names – stands of someone are much more important than their names. The most important question is whether we will choose the EU or a path of stagnation,” Movsesijan stressed. He added that Serbia had been for three decades evading to address the key problems, which had been the source of constant fights, but had never been resolved.

Movsesijan particularly underlined the problems with the lack of transparency in the judiciary and media sector, giving the examples of people being placed under house arrest without charges brought against them, and the process regarding the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Stations, which, he said, had never been publically explained.
