Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has congratulated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the fact that a "big peace meeting" on Ukraine between the U.S. and Russia will be held in Budapest.

"I have talked with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whom I congratulated on the organization of a big peace meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin," Vucic said in a post on his Instagram page late on Oct. 16.

He said he had wished Orban much success and added that he was sure "this historic event" would be impeccably organized.

Previously, after a long telephone conversation with Putin, Trump announced that they had agreed to discuss Ukraine in Hungary's capital Budapest, while the exact date of the meeting is yet to be set. The Kremlin confirmed that preparations for the two leaders' meeting were beginning immediately.

Vucic also said that Orban and he talked about "advancing bilateral relations" and had agreed to meet "in the next seven days."
