Serbian Speaker Ana Brnabic said after meetings with EU officials in Brussels on Nov. 7 that Serbia’s top priority in the EU accession process was to open Cluster 3 in the pre-accession negotiations.

Following talks with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Brnabic stated that opening negotiations on Cluster 3 would be “a confirmation that Serbia continues its EU accession process.”

“Our job was done back in December 2021, and Serbia was ready to open Cluster 3. The European Commission’s progress report on Serbia, delivered to us this week, is the fifth in a row that repeats the recommendation that EU member states open Cluster 3,” she said, adding that it was important for Serbia’s EU path that the Parliament of Serbia recently adopted amendments to the Electoral Roll Act, “thereby implementing the most complex, essential ODIHR recommendations for the further improvement of electoral conditions.”
