Serbian Progressive Party leader Milos Vucevic said on Dec. 19 that the damage from the U.S. investor's abandoning the General Staff complex project was not just economic, but also social and political, adding that one could not explain to "idiots" that preserving national interests required cooperation.

"You can't explain to idiots who don't understand that you have to cooperate to preserve your national and state interests. Especially those who are supposedly patriots and are taking part in all that, they are the most useful idiots, they don't understand that they're doing everything opposite of what they are advocating, a strong state and the protection of national interests," Vucevic told Pink TV.

He underscored that the damage caused by U.S. investor Jared Kushner - U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law - pulling out of the project at the location of the General Staff complex in downtown Belgrade was social and political rather than just economic, adding that it was "an attempt to destroy Serbia."

"The blockaders and some parts of the European administration, not directly but by supporting the blockaders and what they are doing, constantly leaving room for suspicion that something is not legal concerning the General Staff complex, did all they could to drive away Trump and his close aides," said Vucevic.
