European Democrats
The European Democratic Party described on Jan. 11 as an intentional provocation and the spreading of hate a song sung on air during a Christmas program on the Serbian pro-regime Informer television station.
In the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and senior party officials, the European Democrats said, a song was performed that included the lyrics "a Turkish woman swearing in front of a mosque that she loved only a Serb."
"This goes beyond bad taste and disrespect for minorities or neighbouring countries. As global tensions rise, Serbia’s leadership appears increasingly unbalanced: nationalist symbols dominate the public space, military spending is increasing, and democratic restraint weakening," the party said in a statement on the X social media network.
The statement went on to say that, instead of moving closer to Europe, Serbia under Vucic was choosing isolation, encouraging internal polarization and "distrust abroad." "Another Serbia is possible — the students and citizens believe it, and so do we," the statement read.
