Marko Djuric (BETAPHOTO/MINISTARSTVO SPOLJNIH POSLOVA SRBIJE)
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said in Washington on Feb. 23, at the beginning of his visit to the U.S., that it was important for Serbia to gain the U.S.' understanding and support.
"There is no national or state interest for Serbs and Serbia where it is not important for us to gain their understanding and support here, and that is our main purpose," Djuric said, adding that one of the topics he would discuss with U.S. officials would be the energy situation in Serbia.
"We are striving to ensure that our energy sources are diversified," he said.
Djuric also said that he would have meetings in the White House and State Department, and that the subjects would include regional stability, strategic matters and the position of Serbs in Kosovo.
He went on to say that he expected agreement to be reached on strategic partnership between Serbia and the U.S. this year, and that the goal in Serbia-U.S. relations in 2026 was "to unlock their full potential."
