As of 10 a.m. on Feb. 25, farmers’ associations across Serbia commenced blockades of about 80 local and national thoroughfares in protest against the state of Serbian agriculture, which they have labelled “catastrophic.”
In addition to a slew of short-term obstructions, several roads will be blocked for 24 hours. These include the main roads in Bogatic, Zavlaka, Lunovo Selo and Cerovac, the central intersection in Bresnica, the Kragujevac-Gornji Milanovac highway, the exit for the road to Raca in Resnik, as well as the Ibarska Highway in Mrcajevci, near Cacak, where the initial protests began on Feb. 11.
The farmers’ protests have been supported by Serbia’s university students and war veterans.
