Serbian Minister of Trade and Commissioner for the Specialized Expo 2027 Belgrade Jagoda Lazarevic said on March 10 that the manifestation would be more than a global exhibit as a joint cooperation project and long-term partnership, and that Belgrade would profit in every way - economically, politically and culturally - as the host.
"For Serbia the Expo means an obligation. An obligation to ensure transparency and a constructive dialogue, an obligation to ensure that every participating country feels that the Expo is truly ours, that it belongs to all of us," she said opening the second International Participants Meeting.
She reiterated that the value of all of the projects within the A Leap into the Future 2027 investment cycle was EUR18 billion and that the Expo 2027 was only one component of the cycle, but did not say how much the manifestation would cost and and said that that was a question for the minister of finance.
"There is a distinction when you build infrastructure, it is not only for the Expo. It is something that gets left and that the country will need in the years ahead of us," Lazarevic said.
Expo 2027 company director Danilo Jerinic has said that the total value of all activities being undertaken at this time to prepare for the specialized exhibition in Belgrade did not exceed EUR1.3 billion, which was the planned amount when Serbia was nominated to host the exhibition.
