The ruling Serbian Progressive Party will continue to cooperate with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, despite the Fidesz party's defeat in the recent general election in Hungary, Progressive party leader Milos Vucevic said on April 17.
"The Serbian Progressive Party remains committed to the strategic partnership with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians. (Alliance leader) Balint Pastor and I have talked on the phone and will meet next week, we will continue [our] cooperation and the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians can be proud of the cooperation not only with the Serbian Progressive Party but with Fidesz, too," said Vucevic.
The Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians is the biggest party representing ethnic Hungarians in Serbia and has very close ties to Fidesz and outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. It is a member of the ruling coalition in Serbia and has acted as a link between the two countries' authorities.
