Gaining Momentum

The ruling majority in the Serbian National Assembly did not pass a motion of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Djuro Macut at this week’s sitting, as the initiative had come from the opposition, but the Aleksandar Vucic-led regime will probably soon (in the next two months) dissolve parliament and call a snap election. Although Vucic cannot be taken at his word, at this time it seems that his latest announcements that early parliamentary elections will be held in October or November are true. The main reason lies in the fact that the authorities have announced for September financial aid payments to citizens, which they cannot back out of.
