U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on July 11 that the genocide in Srebrenica would never be forgotten and denounced genocide denial and the glorification of war criminals.

We will never forget the Srebrenica genocide. The denial of genocide and war crimes or the glorification of war criminals are all unacceptable. We must work for a peaceful future for all. We owe this to the victims, the survivors, and everyone, Guterres tweeted.

European Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi addressed attendants at a commemoration for the victims of Srebrenica in a video message. It is our shared duty to remember the genocide in Srebrenica today, to remember and honor the victims, to share the grief of their families and survivors, he stressed.

Carmel Agius, president of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, said at a commemoration for the victims in Potocari that more than two decades of denial of the Srebrenica genocide had become a favorite tactic for those looking to realize their political goals.
