Immunologist Srdja Jankovic said on Sept. 9 that introducing restrictive measures was an option in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic but so was immunization.

"We can go in the direction of austere lockdown measures or relatively strict ones. We did not have as austere measures as in some other countries. I am sure that some restrictive measures could be an option to mitigate this wave, but now we have vaccination," Jankovic told Prva TV.

He said that the majority of medical professionals in the Crisis Headquarters believed that introducing covid passes was a solution for alleviating the epidemiological situation, which would enable safe gatherings.

Speaking on the vaccination of health workers, Jankovic said that immunization was a question of professional ethics. He added that he would support suspending physicians like in some countries, but added that the question should be addressed to the Serbian Physicians' Chamber.
