At a NATO summit in Washington the Alliance's leaders adopted a joint resolution which, among other things, says that NATO remains committed to the security and stability of the Western Balkan region which "is of strategic importance to the Alliance."
"We will continue advancing political dialogue and practical cooperation with the Western Balkans so as to support reforms, regional peace and security and confront malignant influences, including disinformation, hybrid and cyber threats, presented by state and non-state actors," the document says.
It adds that democratic values, the rule of law, domestic reforms and good neighborly relations are of vital importance to regional cooperation and euroatlantic integrations and that the continuation of progress in that respect is expected.
The declaration says that NATO remains committed to continuous engagement in the Western Balkans, including through its Kosovo forces (KFOR).
