Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman announced on June 18 that Croatian diplomats and citizens would be evacuated from Israel and Iran.

After a session of the government in Zagreb, Grlic Radman told reporters that Croatia would organize the evacuation via safe border crossings, like other countries do while evacuating their diplomats and representative offices from Tehran. “Such will be the evacuation for the people in Tel Aviv, too,” Grlic Radman added, without saying when it would begin.

Croatia’s foreign minister recollected that the Croatian consul and his wife suffered light injuries in a recent Iranian attack on Tel Aviv, and that their apartment was destroyed. “This horrific explosion happened three meters from him. It is a miracle that he survived such a devastating blast,” Grlic Radman stated.

He said that work was under way on the evacuation, i.e. repatriation of Croatian citizens from Israel and Iran, via ground routes, with communication going on via secure countries, such as Egypt and Jordan. Asked about the number of these citizens, Grlic Radman replied that, according to data from the embassies, there are 15 people in Iran who are not diplomatic staff, and around 150 of them in Israel.
