Montenegrin citizens and businesses have 1,654,515 transactional accounts in banks i.e. accounts for payments in the country and abroad, which is six percent higher year-on-year, the Central Bank told the Pobjeda newspaper.
Last week, the Central Bank supplemented a decision on the structure, more specific conditions and methods for opening and cancelling transactional accounts.
The information shows that on June 30, a total of 1,291,953 citizens and legal entities had one or more transactional bank accounts.
According to the latest information, in early August, 18,540 companies and enterprises had blocked accounts.
As for non-residents i.e. foreigners, they had a total of EUR747m deposited in banks, according to the media. The total deposits of citizens and companies equal EUR33bn.
The Montenegrin central bank said that it did not know how many foreigners had transactional accounts in Montenegro.
