On the occasion of marking 20 years since Serbia became a member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and new record investments made in 2020, the new EBRD head, Odile Renaud-Basso, will make her first official visit to Serbia on March 18 and 19. The visit, which is to be held online, will comprise talks with the representatives of the Serbian government and the private sector.

According to the EBRD in Serbia, the pandemic has made it hard to travel and hold direct meetings, which is why Reanud-Basso’s visit will take place via digital platforms.

“I look forward to meeting the Serbian government and our partners to discuss how we can continue to work together on further modernizing, digitizing, and greening the Serbian economy to yield an inclusive economic growth and enhance competitiveness,” the EBRD head said.

She recalled that the impact of the EBRD’s investments in Serbia over the past 20 years is visible everywhere, from its support for the private sector and small- and medium-sized businesses, strengthening the banking sector, investments in road and railway infrastructure, environment, and, as of lately and in increasing measure, in the renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

The EBRD invested a total of EUR679 million in Serbia in 2020, the statement also recalls.
