The latest two-day crisis in Kosovo’s north, accompanied by heightened tensions in relations between Belgrade and Pristina, was one of the most serious and had the potential to turn into an open conflict. The situation has temporarily calmed down until Sept. 1, the date by which the Kosovo government has postponed the implementation of reciprocal measures with Serbia pertaining to personal documents and license plates. At the moment, it is difficult to predict whether there will be a new escalation on Sept. 1 or if an agreement will be reached in the meantime.
