The several years long crisis in Serbia, which flared up in 2023 in the wake of mass killings in May, has not ended after December elections, to the contrary. Numerous electoral irregularities, mostly in the form of the manipulation of the voter roll, have incited a new wave of anti-government protests, led by the pro-European Serbia Against Violence coalition, which is demanding that elections on all levels be annulled. The government’s response to the accusations that it stole the election has been to launch a campaign against the coalition, claiming that it was preparing a Maidan Revolution i.e. a so-called “color revolution.”
