The Serbian regime has applied brutal physical force to stamp out the protests initiated after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the imposing of a curfew in Belgrade due to the rising number of coronavirus cases. The protests are spontaneous, fairly chaotic and have neither a clearly defined platform nor goals. They may, however, also be perceived as a metaphor of the actual state of the Serbian political scene, which is completely dominated by the Serbian Progressive Party and its president, Aleksandar Vucic, while public social dialogue has almost completely disappeared and the instruments of the rule of law are in the service of the interests of the ruling group and various power centers.
