Serbia’s future government is in for a very difficult autumn, as businesspeople warn that even if the coronavirus pandemic is stopped soon, which is quite unlikely, it will take them at least one year to recover. If the number of new coronavirus cases continues to grow, with economic activity reduced to a bare minimum, the Serbian gross domestic product (GDP) will certainly drop more than predicted. It is realistic to expect a large number of small-business closures and massive lay-offs.
