New Montenegrin Government to Be Formed in a Week’s Time

The prime minister-designate for a new Montenegrin government, Zdravko Krivokapic, is to propose the makeup and program of the new cabinet to the parliament by Nov. 11. Negotiations with the parties and coalitions comprising the new parliamentary majority have revealed their differences, but in the end a compromise was reached on a caretaker government. The final work related to the forming of the new government coincided with the death of the influential metropolitan Amfilohije, who was seen as one of the architects of the ousting of President Milo Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists from power. That party had ruled Montenegro for several decades.
