The first snow this winter, in mid-December, destabilized the Serbian energy system, causing electricity shortages in parts of the state and unexpected expenditure as Serbia needed to import more power. The Government of Serbia was forced to admit that Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) national power system had been run unprofessionally, and Milorad Grcic had to resign as the acting director of the state-owned power corporation.
