Europe Now movement vice-president Jakov Milatovic’s victory in presidential elections in Montenegro completes the process of divesting Milo Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists of power, a process which began with legislative elections in August 2020. Milatovic won a convincing victory against long-time unchallengeable Montenegrin leader Djukanovic in the runoff of elections on April 2, ushering the country into a new political era. Milatovic’s decisive victory also means a reshaping of the political landscape, which is supposed to be cemented in parliamentary elections scheduled for June 11.
