S-400 Missile System (Beta/Milan Obradovic)

The transportation of Russia’s anti-aircraft missile system S-400 to Serbia has no particular military importance because it is a system the Serbian Armed Forces do not own and which Serbia is not planning on buying, which means that a lasting shift in the regional military balance should not be expected. Even if Belgrade did want the equipment, it would have a hard time finding the money to pay for it, because a single battalion costs about 600 million euros, which is the total sum of money Serbia has spent on all the equipment purchased from domestic factories and procured in Russia, France and other countries over the last few years.
