Serbia Ahead of Next Round of Dialogue on Elections

Representatives of the EU, who are mediating negotiations between the Serbian authorities and the opposition on conditions for the election due to be held next spring, are increasingly less mentioning the relationship between Serbia and Kosovo and are talking more and more about the rule of law, media freedom and other issues directly related to strengthening democracy and protecting human and civil rights. They have also begun communicating separately with the opposition parties that have decided to boycott the next regular election unless the election conditions improve. That is making the ruling bloc’s efforts toward keeping the dialogue within the boundaries of the parliament, where it has full control, more difficult.
