The German ambassador to Serbia, Thomas Schieb, said on March 4 that the purpose of the platform "Sustainable Development Goals for Everyone" was to facilitate dialogue and prove that it was possible between central and local authorities, self-governments and civil society organizations.

"The 2030 Agenda the United Nations adopted in 2015, setting 17 sustainable development goals, was passed at the same time as the Paris Agreement, a landmark treaty to combat climate change, and we need to work together to materialize both. The goals may sound abstract, and we should explain them to people," the ambassador said at the launch of the platform at the Dorcol Platz in Belgrade.

The German diplomat said that the agenda could be carried out only if citizens participated, which was why they had to be involved in all events.

His Swiss counterpart, Philippe Guex, said that Switzerland, just like Serbia, was committed to the global goals provided by the 2030 Agenda. "To commit is a good thing, but it's more important to keep records of what we have actually done to support sustainable development," the ambassador said.

The platform "Sustainable Development Goals for Everyone" is a Swiss-German initiative, designed to bring together representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil sector, research organizations, business community and young people to discuss the priorities of sustainable development.
