Sem Fabrizi
The chief of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, stated on March 26 that the first shipment of aid the European Union has designated on the request of Serbia, would arrive in Belgrade by air in the evening of March 26.
Fabrizi told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) that the rest of the EUR15 million announced aid from the EU, which has been approved as urgent aid in the fight against the corona virus epidemic, would arrive in Serbia in the next few days.
We are working with the Serbian authorities. They have also asked the EU for assistance regarding transport and other equipment. The first will arrive in the evening of March 26 and the rest in the next few days. I am optimistic that the necessary things will be delivered in a short time," Fabrizi stated.
In his reply to a reporter's question about whether criticizing the EU for being late with assisting Serbia at the height of the epidemic was justified, Fabrizi said that there was no need for criticism and that, very soon after the Serbian government's request was received, aid worth EUR93 million was approved – 15 million for urgent needs and 78 million for economic recovery.
